Class Review 5/25/Tue (ASP)

Today, we had A lecture about using "Google Presentation".
When we prepare for the presentation, there are some thing that we need to care.
One is use visuals like pictures, photos, graphs or videos. It will make presentation better and we can get more attention from listers. But when we use video, it should be around 2 minutes. 2 minutes is the best time that get more attention and don't lose attention from listeners.

Blogging Assignment 5 (ARW)

The main characters in Old Man and the Sea are Santiago, a fisherman and Manolin, a boy who helps him.

Three adjectives that describe Santiago are cool, proud and economical.

From page 11, line 6. "many of the fisherman made fun of the old man and he was not angry". It means that he does not mind what others said. So he is a really cool guy.

And next, from page 10 , when the old man tells boy that "stay lucky boat". He didn't want to be worried by boy and he was not like that so he is kind of proud. At the last, from page18, line 22. "His shirt had been patched so many times that it was like the sail and the patches were faded to many different shades by the sun". It describe that Santiago is a man who are really economical. Those three are the Santiago's characters.

Two adjectives that describe Manolin are kind and loyal.

From first part of the book, old man couldn't get any fish for 84 days. But Manolin didn't give the old man away and he wanted to stay with his boat. So it describes Manolin is really kind. And also, he is loyal because he did not forget old man's kindness and he believe the old man that his father because of his youth experiences. Those two is the charactaristic of Manolin.

Today ,we learned about how can we have a good presentation.

1.Content
2.Structure
3.Deliver
These three are the key of having good presentation.

1. Content
Content is information of the presentation. We better to have high quantity information and high quality information.

2. Order
We have a best order to have presentation.
Greetings → Thank Audience → Self Introduction (name / background) → Topic Introduction (theme / topic) → Outline → Body (main Information) → Summery & Conclusion → Q&A time → Thank Audience

Background and Topic have to be connected. that is called "establishing credibility".

3. Delivery

It is also important for having presentation that presenter's behavior (body language). He / she can't read the text, need to have confidence, looking everyone's eyes and so on .


These three content is really important to having good presentation.

ASP Assignment (Desert survival problem) 5/11/Tue

We don't know when this kind of problem will happen in our life, so it is really important to know what we can do in this kind of situation.

The first thing that we should do is stay there. If we walk around the desert, that would be really dangerous losing way or losing physical power. we can stay there can wait rescue team.
And also I could know the most dangerous stuff in the desert, which is Salt & Alchol. We will lose our water if we take those stuff.

And there are many things that we can use differently from normal way. Like mirror, we can use as light reflector. Or Parachute as a marker "SOS". We need to think a lot and try to chose the best way when we are in that kind of situation.

Class Discussion 5/7 Fri (ASP)

We had a discussion about "Who will rescue first if the accident happened in the Diamond Mine".
There were 12 people, each person has different age & different background.

Our group thought that what the most important thing in this problems. The thing which we need most is rescue them fairly. For example, in movie "Titanic" there were few boats and not all people can't ride in. So they decided to the order to ride into boats. That order was, Rich→Woman→Man. Those were the culture of the Europe and America that "lady first", but they also rescue rich people. I thought that was not fair.

Our group conclusion was. "Save young people earlier that old people" that is because young people has longer future than old people.

As we thought of the discussion, I noticed that it is really difficult to chose the order of the human life. We can't make the order and everyone's life is equal.
